Snoop Dogg turned the praise of Dr. Dre’s talent as a producer to the comparison between Eminem and the classic 80’s hip hop, which Eminem, in his opinion, fails.
Snoop shared his opinion during the call with “The Breakfast Club” cast. The rap legend is never short of opinions and is always entertaining to watch so his assessment of the twists and turns of Dr. Dre’s career was fascinating. Until it suddenly sidetracked:
Dr. Dre put his ass on a stake like, “I’m the dopest producer in hip hop, I don’t give a fuck where you’re from, you can’t fuck with me. I can give you my track record and show you. Everyone I put out are spent off and spent off are tremendous. And I started a career that they’ve never got”. With that being said, we had a list of producers but they can’t say that. You ain’t put out a nigga from nowhere, and a nigga from the West, a nigga from the Midwest and a nigga from the East. And all of them successful. It’s never a long list of finding talent every time you come out. Nigga just finds jewels and he makes… Eminem, the great white hope! White rappers had zero respect in rap, none. He had put Eminem in the position where he could be labelled one of the top 10 rappers ever. I don’t think so. But the game feels like he’s a top 10 lyricist and all that but that’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre and Dr. Dre helped him find the best Eminem that he could find.
Obviously, after that claim, Snoop was challenged to reveal his own Top 10. Not that it was that much of a challenge, because Charlemagne Tha God, who asked Snoop to do that, does not have Eminem in his personal top 10 himself. And Snoop agrees:
‘Cause there’re some niggas in the 80’s that he can’t fuck with. Like Rakim, like Big Daddy Kane, like KRS-One, like LL Cool J… Shall I go on? Like Ice Cube. You understand me? I don’t got no time to play with it, it is what it is. ‘Cause did that. He did that to the fullest. That’s one of my teammates, one of my brothers. He did that. But when you’re talking about this hip-hop that I can’t live without… I can live without Em.
